Types of Braces

Thanks to today's technology, patients now have more options when it comes to wearing braces. While regular metal braces are still widely used, clear braces are becoming increasingly popular along with lingual (on the tongue side) and clear aligners (invisalign), that can be used for misaligned teeth.

Metal

Metal braces are the most common type. They are made of high-grade stainless steel. Today's metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive.

Clear

Ceramic braces are made of translucent (clear) material. They are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appearance. The only drawback is that they are a little more fragile.

Lingual (tongue side)

Any one with minor to moderate crowding or spacing can be treated with this method. With maximum control and no compliance issue, most cases are completed within 2-3 months.

Clear Aligners (Invisalign)

This is a series of clear overlay templates called aligners that have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. This system is available to adult patients with minor orthodontic problems.
